In this kind of rite, the bride and the groom would be facing each other with their hands crossed and their feet clasped on their front. Their wrists would be tied with a ribbon and this would symbolize infinity. Many years ago, this kind of rite was done every time people celebrate harvest festival.
Irish also put premium on food and drink during weddings. The Irish wedding cake tradition is a must during weddings. It fills in a big part of the event and without it the wedding will not be special.
For Irish people, weddings are big festive parties. Traditionally, a formal reception is only the beginning. After the reception, it is expected to invite guests to an open house to continue the celebration. The hosts provide the light fare and the music, and the guests bring the Irish whiskey. After which, as the party goes on, the younger guests will go toward the club to dance all night.
